Mandatory Health Screening for UAE Residence Visas
Under UAE federal immigration policy, every foreign national aged 18 and older applying for a new residence visa or renewing an existing one must complete a mandatory Medical Fitness Examination administered by government health authorities (Dubai Health Authority in Dubai, SEHA in Abu Dhabi, or Emirates Health Services in Northern Emirates).
Screening Tests & Standards
- Blood Screening: Primary test for Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). Certain professions (food handlers, domestic workers, nursery workers) are additionally tested for Hepatitis B and syphilis.
- Chest X-Ray: Detects active or previous untreated pulmonary tuberculosis (TB). Individuals with old TB scars may be issued a certificate under conditional surveillance.
